Can I insure my property if it is let to tenants?

Do I need to have proof that I own what I'm insuring?

No, but if you make a claim, you may be asked for evidence of value and ownership such as purchase receipts and instruction manuals. This is especially important for valuables, such as jewellery, watches or works of art.

Can I insure a property that is not my main home?

Why do I need to give you all my personal details to get a quote?

We need all you personal details to be able to give you our best price possible. Your name and Date of Birth and post code will also be used to find you on our database.

I work from home. Can you still insure me?

Yes, we can insure you in some cases. If you have less that £5,000 of clerical equipment and are visited by individuals in relation to business less than 3 times a week we may be able to insure you.

The property to be insured is not in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Northern Ireland. Can I be covered?

Unfortunately no. The postcode is one of the key rating factors. Without this we can't offer you a quote.

What is an approved lock?

An approved lock is a lock that conforms to British Standard 3621 e.g. 5 lever locks.

My property is left unoccupied for more than 30 consecutive days during the year. Can I be covered?

The Re-build cost of my property is more than £1,250,000. Will you cover this?

What do you mean by self-contained with its own front door?

We cannot insure homes that are shared accommodation. If you have your own door to your property that only you, and those that live with you, have access to and is key operated then we may be able to insure your property.

Are you able to insure a property that is at risk of flooding?

Yes, as long as your property has never had flood damage we may be able to insure your home.

Does my home insurance cover my gadgets?

Yes, Gadgets would be covered provided you have taken the correct level of cover on your contents insurance e.g. accidental damage and personal possessions. However we do offer separate Gadget Insurance cover which might better suit your needs. How long will it take for my documents to arrive?

All documents are available online through our existing customer service area. You can also choose to have your documents posted to you which will take 7 -10 working days.

Can I specify a direct debit date?

Is there a charge for amendments to my policy?

Yes. This would be in addition to any charge made by the insurer.

Are my fences covered for storm damage?

No however they are covered for impact and tree damage. If you wish them to be covered for storm damage we offer a separate low cost Garden Insurance cover which may suit your needs better. Who do I call to make a claim?

The Green Insurance Company is an insurance intermediary and as such we administer your policy and work with a panel of insurers, however, we do not deal with claims. The insurer of your policy would deal with any claims. Their contact details can be found on your schedule of insurance.

We can quote up to 30 days in advance of when you need your policy to start.

Do I need to take pictures of high value items?

We do not request pictures of high value items to be sent to ourselves if claiming however we do require a valuation for items that are under 3 years old and worth £2500 or more. Your insurance company however may request pictures of the items for proof of purchase if the item can't be provided, e.g it is lost.

Can you cover my son/daughters contents whilst in halls of residents?
