Wind power to be cheaper than nuclear
Japanese engineers have designed an innovative new wind turbine called the ‘wind lens’ which could produce three times as much electricity as conventional turbines, making them more cost effective than nuclear power.
The design has given energy experts the first real signs to the permanent end of fossil based and nuclear fuel sources in the future.
The offshore turbines are designed in a large wheel shape with a diffuser that makes the turbine blades move faster, magnifying the wind captured in the sphere and producing much more energy.
Currently the designs are only at concept stage, however, scientists and engineers are excited about the possibility of starting production and helping to solve some of the energy problems we all face today.
