Green Grants Winners announced!
Wow, time really does fly! Another year, another round of Green Grants awarded. The Green Insurance Company is delighted to announce the winners of our 2011 Green Grants initiative. 18 fantastic projects were selected from well over 600 applications and we believe our judging panel did a great job in selecting our winners. From a mile of potatoes to a community taxi run on chip fat and everything in between, all of our chosen projects can be found here
Launched in 2010, the Green Grants initiative offers communities throughout the UK the opportunity to apply for funding to help support local environmental projects. The initiative was awarded the title of Business Sustainability Initiative of the Year at the British Insurer Awards 2011. It proved so successful that we decided to increase our funding amount to a total of £40,000 for this year’s awards. Overall, just under £30,000 was donated to green projects across the UK, each receiving up to £2K.
This year, we also decided to do things a little differently by awarding a one off grant of up to £10,000 for an extra special project which could provide a significant long term environmental benefit. The winner of this category will be announced soon, so watch this space!

We’ve had a blast with this year’s Green Grants and look forward to seeing our winning projects blossom over the course of the coming year. We take great pleasure in helping to promote sustainable living in local communities and raise awareness of environmental issues for the eco-conscious consumer and look forward to continuing this in the future.
